Cheryl Akila Payne started writing as an amature at a very early age.
Cheryl went onto to Middlesex University in London to study Creative and Media Writing. During this time she had a chance to discover, explore and practice various writing mediums where she developed her craft.
After graduating in 2006, Cheryl was accepted onto the Pen to Paper writer's development program at the Birmingham REP. Here, Cheryl was exposed to theatre and fell in love with it.
In 2007 Cheryl wrote a play called Fatherhood which was performed in The Door at the Birmingham REP.
In 2008 Cheryl co-wrote These four Streets which was a creative response to the Lozells disturbances.
Since then, Cheryl has been working on new material whilst using her writing to help young adults develop their personal and social skills.
