Richard Dormer

Richard’s writing credits include The Gentlemen’s Tea-Drinking Society, nominated for Best New Play 2010 Irish Times Theatre Awards; This Piece of Earth, selected by the British Council to be showcased at the Edinburgh Festival; The Half; Hurricane (Belfast, Edinburgh, West End London & Broadway), BBC Stewart Parker Award for new writing, the Tron Award for best touring production, Manchester Evening News nomination for best touring production, ‘What’s on in London’ nomination for best play, a TMA nomination and The Stage award for best actor 2003 Edinburgh Festival. Richard is Ransom’s Writer in Residence.

As a RADA trained actor, Richard’s extensive stage experience includes GlenGarry Glen Ross (Library Theatre, Manchester), the role of Lucky in Sir Peter Hall’s acclaimed Waiting For Godot (Theatre Royal Bath); Measure for Measure and Miss Julie as part of the Peter Hall Season (Theatre Royal Bath). Other theatre credits include: Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme (Lyric Theatre Belfast & Dundee Rep); Beautiful Thing (West End); Una Pooka (Tricycle); In The Heart of America (Bush) & the title role of Billy Budd at the Crucible, Sheffield.

Richard has been seen on film and television in The Escapist; A Further Gesture; Puckoon; The Map Maker; Casualty; Soldier, Soldier; Accentuate the Positive; Safe and Sound. You will soon see him in the upcoming films, Five Minutes Of Heaven and Pumpgirl.
