THE WAY TO GO HOME

Rona Munro,

Istanbul. The city where East meets West. Two Scottish women meet on the road. One carries memories of another journey to Nicaragua, the other of a home on the derelict side of Edinburgh. They are under surveillance. Lieutenant John Mackensie of the US Marines has the technology. Sharon and Liz get involved in a dangerous game of pursuit, escapes, and random chance which brings a nervous world to the brink of war.

It's about two women and the relationship that grows between them as they cope with a strange and terrifying situation. Through their memories and what happens to them we see glimpses of women living in three totally different countries, and the feelings they all have in common. Through both humour and nightmare, the play looks at the ways in which ‘home’ is defined and fought for.
