In-Sook was born in South Korea but raised in England. She studied dance in New York at the Alvin Ailey School before moving into acting. She started writing in-between acting jobs. Her first play THIS ISN’T ROMANCE was produced at the Soho Theatre after winning the Verity Bargate Award, it was also broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and commissioned as a screenplay by Film4. Theatre includes TALES OF THE HARROW ROAD (Soho Theatre), ABSENCE (Young Vic Theatre) and P’YONGYANG (Finborough Theatre) – which recently received excellent reviews and a sell out run. She is currently under commission to the Royal Exchange Theatre and NT Connections. She will be on attachment at the National Theatre Studio later in the year.
In-Sook is also a filmmaker. Her first short film, FULL was funded by the BBC. She is currently completing her second short film, KOTCHEBI.
