Jarek was raised in Wales, and trained as an actor/writer in London before settling in Gloucester nearly twenty years ago.
With a string of educational plays about science subjects under her belt she turned towards theatre a few years ago, and has written plays for Theatre West in Bristol, Director’s Cut & Theatre 503 in London, as well as Midsummer Theatre Company who won a coveted sell-out show laurel for their run of Jarek’s play 2 UP 2 DOWN at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Her play, THE MYSTERIOUS GENTLEMAN about Victorian magician JN Maskelyne was first seen in Cheltenham and will be produced later this year at the Courtyard Theatre London in collaboration with OFF THE CLIFF THEATRE. And her play THE SECRET LIFE OF DADS ran for three weeks at Gloucester Guildhall last summer, before going on tour next year.
She also runs the ACE funded Gloucester Scriptorium, which works with local playwrights to produce plays about Gloucester that are performed in venues such as the Gloucester Life Museum, and Gloucester Cathedral. She won the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain Theatre Encouragement award for her work on this project.
