Come To Where I’m From – Coventry
We’ve just finished our final rehearsal room run of TINY VOLCANOES in Liverpool and now we’re headed for Coventry for the latest COME TO WHERE I’M FROM – at The Belgrade, tonight at 9:30pm.
We’ve got a stellar line-up of writers performing their own short plays about the places they grew up – Vanessa Oakes, Chris O’Connell, Alan Pollock and Paven Virk. So if you’re round Coventry way, come on down, should be a cracker.
Then it’s an overnight drive to Suffolk and Latitude in time for tomorrow morning’s tech…

We were at the Belgrade last night for the Come To Where I’m From session and found it an enthralling hour or so. The idea is a great one (not sure how you get the energy to do it all round the country!) and there was some terrific material from all four writers, although for me Chris O’Connell’s piece had the edge. I intend to be there for the Pie and Pint sessions in the autumn. Great stuff. Thanks very much.
Very glad you enjoyed the show – thanks for coming. We look forward to seeing you for the Play, Pie, Pint shows!
Mr Plough, or may I call you Paines, thank you for an enthralling evening in Coventry (couldn’t make the Birmingham event I’m afraid). After mulling it over I think my own favourite was the quirky unusual piece by Vanessa Oakes. The emotion in her monologue felt more rooted in social experience and a lifetime’s reality whereas Chris O’Connell’s piece was well crafted but showy and a bit knowingly theatrical for my personal taste. Great to see something different – impressed with Coventry’s offering – keep on ploughing!
I’m a visual artist who has been working with Vanessa for the pass 2/3 years, through this association i have found myself attending several theatrical events that previously I probably would not have gone to. The Belgrade was one of those. It was excellent, I loved the format – pretty raw, and I can appreciate quite challenging for the writers. I enjoyed Chris’ piece, but – and honestly I’m being as objective as I can – the piece that Ness wrote had me completely captivated!
Do keep me updated with your future events.
